My Mom         -         The Notebook (part 1)

This is the notebook I have been referring to. Nothing fancy; nothing fantastic; just a name embossed on a 6"x9" three ring binder. But the information inside is what's so astounding especially when it starts in the 1920's.

You will notice I took no care in chronologically ordering these pages. They were scanned just as they appeared in the notebook.

Because most of the files (each page is a separate file) are large to be able to read the information, I have split the notebook into 25 page increments. This is done so that you wouldn't have to wait forever loading files if you are using an older, slower computer.

pg6:
Winsted, along with New Haven, Connecticut, was a center for the production of mechanical clocks in the 1900s. The Gilbert Clock Company, located along the Still River north of town, was founded in 1807 and became one of the largest clock companies in the world at the turn of the century.

The Gilbert School is a private secondary school that serves as the public high school for the towns of Winchester and Hartland.

[excerpted from Wikipedia, the free (online) encyclopedia]

My educated guess is that the 'Gilbert' mentioned is the Gilbert School in Winsted because she also mentions Susquehanna (Pa) and Deposit (NY) where she taught as well.
